When does the season start and end?
Our season is tentatively scheduled to begin on April 27, 2024 and run through June 29, 2024. These dates are subject to change depending on the weather and the number of teams.
Where are practices held and games played?
All Instructional, Tee Ball, Rookie, and Minor games are played at Donovan Park. The boys Major division will play home games at Donovan Park and will also play a road schedule at various fields around the city and nearby suburbs. Practices are generally held at Donovan Park, but coaches are free to book field time at neighboring parks.
When are games and practices?
Teams will usually play one game per week and practice once per week. There may be as many as two games per week in the Rookie division. Games are generally held on weeknights. Unfortunately, we won't know which night of the week your team will play on until registration is over, as it will depend on the number of kids who sign up and the number of teams in each division.
Practice times are chosen by coaches. Once the season starts, practices generally take place on the weekend.
Which division will my child play in?
Your child's division will depend on his or her age on April 1, 2024. Please review the registration page for age breakdowns.
Can my child play in a different division?
We do allow kids to move up one division in some circumstances. Please reach out to us if you'd like to discuss moving your player up one division.
Which team will my child play on? Can I request a certain coach or teammate?
We do not divide players onto teams until registration is complete. Typically a player staying in the same division will play on the same team as the prior year. Players entering a new division will be drafted onto a team. Parents may request a certain coach or teammate, but we cannot guarantee any placements (except siblings, who will be placed on the same team). Our first priority is ensuring all teams are competitive and have an even number of players. Also, please remember that playing youth sports isn't just about playing with friends, but meeting new friends as well.
Do I have to register online?
No. We're happy to register you in person if you're not comfortable signing up online. If you'd prefer to register in person, please email us at donovanblml.com
Is there a sibling discount?
Yes, you will automatically receive a $10 sibling discount for each subsequent registration.
Do you offer any other discounts?
Yes! Bring in a full sponsorship and your child plays for free!
Can I coach my child's team?
Yes, most divisions are still in need of at least one head coach. During registration, you will be given the opiton to volunteer as either a head coach or assistant coach. If you choose to do so, we'll receive a notification and reach out to you.
We are an all-volunteer league and fully dependent on parents stepping up. We are grateful for any help you can provide.
